With over 18 years experience in the Media industry in Sri Lanka, Janeeth Rodrigo has helped many traditional media brands transition into the digital world successfully. He brings a versatile skill set, with a current focus on the digital economy, public sector digitisation, internet safety, and promoting digital inclusion. He has a background in crafting digital communication strategies for both private, public and CSO sectors  and supporting initiatives that strengthen governance, while also cultivating digital ecosystems aimed at empowering communities and encouraging democratic engagement.


Janeeth is the Executive Director and Founder of Digital Turtles(DT). Digital Turtles is a creative digital strategy and content studio based in Sri Lanka and Singapore, specializing in helping brands, creators, and organizations grow through intentional storytelling, data-driven campaigns, and engaging video content.

DT combines strategy, creativity, and execution to build powerful digital ecosystems that deliver measurable results. Their teams work across platforms to craft tailored content strategies—from ideation to production to optimization—that align with each client’s goals and audience behavior.

DT is also active in the Digital Advocacy space, widely known for its Creator Incubator programme in Sri Lanka. The Creator Incubator; the first of its kind in Sri Lanka amalgamates two mechanisms to bring about a unique outcome. The project takes the form of a start-up incubator with the only difference being it will be completely focused on independent creators. It provides youth from all ethnicities in Sri Lanka with the training and the know-how to create content and monetise their creativity and all be civic-minded and use their reach to further democracy. Creator Incubator is serving as a catalyst in the Sri Lankan social context as it has empowered, independent youth who will have a strong influence on the greater community  they represent. 

He was previously the General Manager of Derana Macroentertainment Pvt. Ltd for 15 years from 2009-2024. Derana Macroentertainment is the Digital arm of one of Sri Lanka’s biggest broadcasters; TV Derana. Derana Macroentertainment has three fully owned subsidiaries, Pulse, Mogo Studios and Mogo Games. He is also the General Manager and chief architect behind IdeaHell, Sri Lanka's only Creator Space and YouTube approved Multi-Channel Network (MCN).

Janeeth consults for the International Republican Institute(IRI) where he has conducted over 40 political party trainings across Sri Lanka. His training programmes mainly focus on digital communications strategies, video content creation, social media hacks for political parties, combating hate speech and misinformation, inclusive communication, digital campaign management and influencer marketing. 


He is also a facilitator of the Emerging Leaders Academy (ELA) initiated by the IRI Sri Lanka office. ELA is a non-governmental youth initiative that provides a strong network of peers and in-depth campaign training for youth who aspire to run for politics in Sri Lanka. For this youth group, he has conducted sessions that revolve around empathy mapping, content creation and storytelling, digital marketing, guerilla marketing, identifying misinformation, and combating cyber-sexual gender based violence. 

He has conducted digital media and security training for the Women's Campaign Academy (WCA) which focuses on empowering women in politics. The academy consists of 75 female politicians from local government councils, Women’s Wing of political parties, and candidates that have contested at national level elections. Janeeth’s training sessions focus on digital literacy, social media and community management, inclusive communication, and tackling CSGBV. 

Janeeth has also conducted a multi-party training programme in Cambodia organised by the IRI. The three day workshop comprised sessions such as; how to leverage social and digital media, adaptive leadership, guerilla marketing, video content creation and monetisation. 

Janeeth has co-authored a module in conjunction with the Centre for Equality and Justice (CEJ) to be used in key Government and stakeholder institutions on the gendered impacts of online hate speech and cyber-sexual and gender-based Violence(SGBV) in Sri Lanka(2022). The module is currently being used by public institutions, law enforcement entities, media and civil society organisations as it provides technical literacy on how to tackle CSGBV.

Janeeth is also a part of the Coalition for Inclusive Impact (CII). Created by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy(WFD), CII is evaluating existing policies and plans towards economic recovery in Sri Lanka through an inclusive lens and engaging underrepresented groups to better understand the impact of the crisis on their day-to-day lives. The working group consists of diverse stakeholders including parliamentarians, media, CSO representatives, youth, women, and members of other excluded groups. Under the CII Janeeth’s focus areas are; Digital Inclusion, Internet safety, Digitalisation of the Economy, Digitisation of the Public Sector and the role of Media in Sri Lanka. 


Janeeth has also worked with the Sri Lankan Parliament through initiatives of WFD and The National Democratic Institute(NDI) to enhance its public outreach. He is working alongside the Public Outreach, Media and Communications teams to build a strategy to foster engagement, and building trust in democratic processes in Sri Lanka through the use of Digital Media. The strategy is built around the crucial role of an open parliament that actively connects with the people, to bridge the gap and create meaningful dialogue.
